Smooth dark green Big Sur jade pendant. Ombre of green and black faceted tourmaline beads. One-of-a-kind. Handmade by lifelong Big Sur resident Rachel Moody. Pendant is side-drilled. Beads strung on wire with sterling silver clasp. Pendant is 1&3/4" long, 7/8" wide, and 1/4" deep. Necklace length adjusts from 16" to 18" via sterling silver extender with faceted tourmaline drop.

Big Sur is known for its offshore deposits of nephrite jade, pieces of which can be found washed up on the south coast beaches. Local jade ranges in color from light icy green to nearly black. Darker green pieces such as this pendant are more rare, and prized by jewelers. Set against the sparkling ring of tourmaline beads, the flowing lines of the polished stone shine with the deep magic of the ocean it came from. Please note that the photo on the necklace stand makes the jade stone appear several shades lighter because of the sunlight and the black background. Photos against the white are a more accurate representation of the stone color. The tourmalines really do sparkle like that in the sun though!

Beadworker Rachel Moody draws inspiration from the rugged beauty of the land she calls home. "I feel each piece holds a bit of the magic of the moment it was created. My best work comes when I am able to take my beads to a beautiful place, usually with a vista. I never plan what I am going to make. The pieces evolve in front of me inspired by the beads, a stone, a shell, or a color combination. Each piece has its medicine, power, beauty, color therapy, or energy healing thanks to the amazing stones I have the privilege of working with. My treat is seeing the person it was made for find their perfect piece." Maybe this one is yours!
