Absolutely FABULOUS luxury handbag from designer Maya Popkin. In the early 2000s, Popkin was the creative director for the brand "Maya Baroque" (now discontinued), which produced leather accessories for Fred Segal in Los Angeles, where this purse was purchased years ago by a Big Sur resident and never used. A true nearly-new vintage closet find. Bowler/satchel style with unusual horizontal strap attachment. Panels of supersoft off-white rabbit fur adorn pliable fine-grain sand-colored leather on all sides of bag and tops of straps. Straps of thick double-piping construction with 2"-wide pads at the shoulders with dark brown leather undersides. Piping attaches to body of bag with antique-finish copper-tone metal hardware and goes on to terminate in metal endcaps in the shape of flames. Large, matching metal decorative faux-"lock" with moveable bolt adorns one side of the bag. Metal content unknown, not true copper although the color is similar. Heavy-duty RiRi zipper closure. Interior suede lining in dark, rich eggplant. Copper-tone "Maya Baroque" plaque. Two interior zipper pockets and three unzippered pockets. Bag dimensions are approximately 16"L x 8"W x 10"H. Straps are 20" long between their points of attachment. Central zipper is 13" long. An extended search has turned up no other examples of this handbag; possibly one-of-a-kind and certainly extremely rare. Original purchase price was in the ballpark of $3000.

Only a few small flaws to note: pinhole and small stain on the underside of one strap-piping near endcap, and very minor bulging of leather on underside of another strap-piping. (refer to pictures). These are barely noticeable and do not detract from the aesthetic. Bag is otherwise in like-new condition, having been in storage for over 10 years.

Perfect warm-white accessory for your winter adventures. Lavish lush leather love!
